UNDER THE WEATHER® COMPANY OVERVIEW
South Burlington, VT, U.S.A., March 15, 2018 - Under the Weather® was established in 2015 by Kyla Sternlieb, Founder & President, to develop pet products for busy pet parents using only the highest quality ingredients and making them easy to use.
Under the Weather® was inspired by Ruffy, the founder’s Wheaten Terrier, after going through a bout of digestive upset. Their veterinarian recommended putting Ruffy on a “bland diet” until healthy digestion was restored. After the hassle of shopping and cooking, the idea of a more convenient solution came to Sternlieb.
BLAND DIET PRODUCTS
The company introduced their Chicken & Rice freeze-dried bland diet formula, followed by two other formulas, in 2016. The line was then expanded with the introduction of three additional bland diet formulas in mid-2017 at SuperZoo. In December 2017, Pet Business magazine selected Under the Weather bland diets for one of its 2017 Industry Recognition Awards. In March 2018, the newly enhanced line of bland diets with electrolytes will be launched at Global Pet Expo.
PET SUPPLEMENTS
The company also has three lines of nutraceutical products aimed at achieving optimal health.
- Dog Supplements. Calming and Probiotic soft chews, as well as a Ready Balance, a fast-acting probiotic gel, and Ready Cal, a high-calorie food supplement gel.
- Hemp-Based Soft Chews for Dogs. Five targeted soft chews containing a proprietary THC-free hemp blend were launched mid-2017: Hemp Calming, Hemp Joint, Hemp Immunity, Hemp Neuro and Hemp Ultra.
- Cat Supplements. Being launched at Global Pet Expo 2018 is the company’s line of five targeted functional soft chews (Calming, Hairball Support, L-Lysine, Probiotic and Urinary Support) as well as Ready Balance, a fast-acting probiotic gel, and Ready Cal, a high-calorie food supplement gel.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Under the Weather® is an avid supporter of rescuing homeless pets. A portion of every sale supports the Ruffy Rescue Transport Fund to finance the transportation and neutering costs for shelter animals brought to Vermont for adoption from overpopulated areas in the U.S.A. In less than two year, their financial support has played a key role in the placement of several hundred pets.
Under the Weather® is a member of the American Pet Products Association (APPA) and the World Pet Association (WPA), two leading trade associations serving the interests of the pet products industry.
