3/4 cup pumpkin puree (not pie filling)

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

3/4 cup oat bran

1/2 cup barley flour

1/2 cup brown rice flour

1 egg

1 tablespoon flax seed oil

Preheat oven to 325° F. In a large bowl, combine the oats, barley flour and rice flour. Add in the pumpkin puree, applesauce, egg and flax seed oil. Mix until combined.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the mixture evenly over the paper using your hands. Keep your hands damp with water will help. Spread to about 1/8th inch thick.

Score with a cookie cutter of any shape you choose. Don’t remove the shapes. This is just to score the shape to make it easier to break apart after baking.

Bake 1-1/2 hours or until the cookie has reached a crispy texture. Remove from the oven, transfer the parchment to a cooling rack and cool completely. Break apart or cut out the shapes with a knife.

Peanut Butter – Banana – Flax Seed Dog Biscuits

1 cup whole wheat flour (can be substituted with rice or coconut flour for a grain free option)

½ banana, mashed

⅓ cup peanut butter

2 tablespoon ground flax seed

¼ cup almond milk (unsweetened)

Preheat oven to 350° F. Combine all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl and mix thoroughly using a spatula until well combined.

Roll out mixture on a floured surface to approximately ¼". Cut into desired shapes. Repeat with remaining dough.

Place on a nonstick baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.

Nutty Bacon Dog Treats

3 slices of bacon, diced

1 egg

1/3 cup creamy natural peanut butter

1 tablespoon maple syrup

3 tablespoons water

1/2 cup soy flour

1/2 whole wheat pastry flour

1/2 cup wheat germ

Preheat oven to 300° F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Fry the diced bacon until crispy. With a slotted spoon, remove the crispy bacon but save the fat. Allow the fat to cool slightly (2-5 minutes).

Add the egg, peanut butter, maple syrup and water to the bacon fat and mix thoroughly.

Add in the flours and wheat germ and mix until combined. Stir in the crispy bacon pieces.

Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4" thick. Cut into desired shapes.

Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes (for 1" diameter shapes) until lightly browned.

Cool and make them beg for it.
